Spring

Kindergartener: Mom, what is different with spring (the season).

I went into my thoughts thinking about my childhood

When I was growing up, spring meant colourful flowers around – bright yellow marigold, dahlia flowers, new leaves on mango tree and sprigs on guava tree.

At this time of the year, our sweaters were packed already, quilts were packed and put in the a big “galvanized tin” metal trunk.

We celebrated and played with colours, during the festival of Holi to mark the end of winters.

Present moment

We are still wearing jackets, snow is still in the yards, I forgot it’s Holi today (a normal working day), house heating is still on.

Me: When we step out of the house to catch school bus, did you notice the sound of water going down the drains. That is Spring.

Kindergartener: Oh, yeah!

Next day, we step out and he heard the sound of water going down the drains. Mom, did you hear that sound, that is Spring. 😊
